Jonathan Kusuma

Jonathan Kusuma is a musician, producer, and DJ based in Jakarta. His sound blends hypnotic grooves, proto-techno influences, and darker, more atmospheric elements—shaped by years of exploring and playing underground music.

Originally from Jakarta, Jonathan spent time living in
Singapore, where he held DJ residencies at Tuff Club and HQ, two venues that helped him grow as both a selector and a performer. These experiences, along with years of collecting records and experimenting with sound, continue to inform his sets and productions.

He started Dekadenz, a small label and party series focused on leftfield and underground sounds, and currently works as the Music Director at Zodiac Jakarta, where he helps curate the venue’s musical direction alongside a team of like-minded people.

Jonathan has released music on several labels over the years, including Berlin’s Cocktail d’Amore, Sound
Metaphors, and Minh (Hong Kong). Some of his earlier EPs include Black Magic (2016), DreamBot (2022), and Automatone (2016), and his tracks have also appeared on compilations and imprints like Correspondant, Ene Records, and Power Station.

Looking ahead, he’s continuing to explore new sounds, with more music planned for release in 2025. Whether playing a late-night set or working in the studio, Jonathan remains focused on contributing to the underground scene in an honest, thoughtful way—both at home and abroad.
